Counseling Center

Christ’s Church Counseling

Dedicated to Biblically based, professional, and affordable counseling from a Christian perspective.

Jesus Christ – and His revelation in the Old and New Testament of the Bible, as the inspired Word of God – is the preeminent model for the Counseling Center’s practice, ethics, caregiving activities and the final authority for all matters about which it speaks. Christ’s Church counseling offers help with a wide variety of personal and family issues such as substance abuse, marital conflicts, divorce/blended family issues, grief, loss and separation issues, behavioral problems, addictive behavior, childhood abuse, family conflicts, depression, and issues of spirituality or identity.

In addition to individual counseling, during the school year we offer classes, support groups and Bible studies at various times in order to give opportunities for learning and for applying the truths of the Bible. These classes cover a range of topics including grief, pre-marital classes, healing from divorce, recovery from addictions, parenting, marriage and family classes. Whether a Bible study, a class about spiritual disciplines, or a support group for finding freedom from pain and suffering, there is always a chance for connection and growth.

Counseling Classes

When a cancer diagnosis has been received your world is never the same. We are a group of fighters, survivors, and caregivers meeting up once a month to encourage, support, and offer comfort during your journey. No two stories are exactly the same but who better understands than one who has experienced a similar situation?

This group is for cancer patients currently in treatment, those in remission and their caregivers.

  • Led by Liz Banwart, Lori Brock & Vicki Earhart
  • Meets the 1st Sunday of every month at 10:45am and the 3rd Thursday of every month at 6:45pm. You can choose which time works best for you.

Christians often focus so much on being loving and unselfish that they forget their own limits and limitations. Do you have trouble saying no? Can you set limits and still be a loving person? Are you in control of your life? Do people take advantage of you? Drs. Henry Cloud and John Townsend offer biblically based answers to these tough questions as they show us how to set healthy boundaries with our parents, our spouses, our children, our friends and even ourselves.

  • Led by Jim Wickenkamp
  • Sunday Morning at 9:15am, begins January 21
  • Class Length: 9 weeks

When a parent loses a child, you are faced with the reality of many years ahead of you before you are reunited with that child in Heaven. As you face those seemingly interminable years, we have some choices to make… Are you going to abandon or apply your faith? Are you going to allow grief to make you bitter, or allow God to use grief to make you better?

These, and many more questions, are discussed at the While We’re Waiting support groups. Here you’ll find other parents who have gone through the same life-altering moment of losing a child. Here you’ll find others who have found hope on the other side.

  • Led by Ward and Tanya Thomas
  • The first Thursday of the month at 6:30pm, year round
