Discipleship

Intentional group or mentorship that fosters space for accountability, encouragement, and growth.

Discipleship is the process of aligning our beliefs and will with God’s. This happens primarily through hearing the Gospel and responding in repentance and faith towards Jesus. Once our lives have acknowledged the life and work of Jesus as Savior and Lord, we follow him. This doesn’t mean we just start living moral lives, but God-filled lives. Following Jesus isn’t just being nice, it’s being with God. This isn’t always easy or clear, but God provides others who have gone before us that teach us to walk in his ways.

Jesus calls all of his followers to be his disciple, and to continue making disciples (Mt. 28:19). The Apostle Paul told the church in Corinth, “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ” (1 Cor. 11:1), and so our hope for every Jesus follower is that they would have intentional community with those who have been walking with Jesus and our now helping others on the journey as well.

Our discipleship isn’t just about us becoming holy, but being with the Holy One, and inviting others into a life with him as well. Mature disciples make disciples.
