At our church, there’s a powerful ministry called Right Here Right Now that shows the true heart of our church. Each Sunday, we contribute dollar bills to this ministry, and those dollars are used in a remarkable way — to meet the financial needs of individuals in our community.
The way it works is simple but impactful. Church members use a form on the website to submit needs they know of, whether it’s a friend struggling to pay a bill, a neighbor facing an unexpected expense, or someone in their life who’s just hit hard times. Once a need is submitted, the ministry reviews each request and uses the funds to help cover the costs.
What makes RHRN special, though, is how it goes beyond financial assistance. As the person who submits the request, we get to be the go-between, delivering the help to those in need. This isn’t just about handing over a check; it’s about showing people they are seen and loved. It’s an opportunity to have a conversation and remind them that God cares deeply for them. Through these moments, our family has experienced firsthand how God moves. It’s never about us; it’s always about His love reaching someone in their time of need.
Our family has had the privilege of seeing this in action. Over the years, we have had requests approved to help a neighbor who had a house fire, a college student with no means of transportation get a bike so they could make it to class and work, a gas card for a family in temporary housing, and funds to help furnish living room items for a foster family. One of the most humbling experiences was when we paid a bill for a family whose father had passed away, and they had no idea how it was going to get paid. In each of these situations, the financial need was bigger than the budget of our family, so we could not have met the need on our own. But with the help of RHRN and our church family, we could.
Each time, we’ve been humbled by the way God works. We never know how much of an impact it will have, but we’ve seen how a simple gesture can open doors for people to experience God’s love in a new way. RHRN is more than just financial assistance; it’s a tangible way to reach out and remind our neighbors that they are not alone.
Through RHRN, we’re living out the love of Christ by meeting practical needs. Our church family is often so generous with their dollars (and keep them coming!)– but our family is also praying that more of us will see needs around us and feel God’s movement to request funds to meet those needs. RHRN is a beautiful reminder that God is moving, loving, and reaching people right where they are.

Sharing the love and hope of Jesus with our local community one dollar bill at a time. We encourage everyone in our Christ’s Church family to bring $1 for every person in their household each week we gather. We also encourage our church to submit a request to Right Here Right Now when a financial or service need arises in the lives of those around them (friends, family, neighbors, coworkers). Right Here Right Now works to offer resources that will not only eliminate the immediate need but also eradicate the cause of that need.
