About

We are a Christian church that loves God, preaches Christ, and is led by the Holy Spirit to love our neighbors. We gather for the inspiration of God through worship, the instruction of His Word through teaching, and the involvement of all through lasting relationships and selfless acts of service.

New Here?

We would love for you to join us on a Sunday morning for one of our three identical worship services, 8:00am, 9:15am or 10:45am. On Wednesdays during the school year we also offer classes, studies and groups for adults, as well as worship services and age-appropriate programming for kids and students beginning at 6:30pm.

Our campus is located on the same plot of land outside of Joplin, Missouri where God began this church family more than 60 years ago. Find us at 22145 Kafir Rd., Oronogo, MO 64855

What To Expect

Our Sunday morning services are relaxed and comfortable, and you will feel welcomed as soon as you arrive on campus. Our music is lively and connective, the teaching is Biblically based and relevant to your life and our fellowship is genuine and refreshing. Come early and visit our cafe to get a drink before service, or spend some time visiting with friends in the lobby.

We have three adult worship service times, 8:00am, 9:15am and 10:45am. Each service is identical, so pick the time that works best for your family. Our cafe is open all morning long, and we have a Welcome Center available for you to find out more information about what’s going on and what we are studying as a church family.

Kingdom Kritters is the place for all children ages birth through Pre-K, and they are open during each service in the Early Childhood area next to the Worship Center. Kids Klub and Kids Klub Jr. is in the Children’s Ministry Area for kids in grades K-4 during the 9:15am and 10:45am services. And there are core classes at the 9:15am service for students in grades 5-12.

Each Wednesday night during the school year we gather together for teaching and for fellowship. Adults have the opportunity to be involved in classes and Bible studies, and children and students have programming designed just for them. Wednesday nights are casual and fun, so come with your whole family and experience God moving through the fellowship of his people.

Children ages birth through Pre-K have programming in the Early Childhood area (just off the worship center). Kids in grades K-4 have a special gathering of Kids Klub in the Children’s Ministry Hallway. 5th-8th grade students have a worship service in the Student Ministry Center East, and 9th-12th students have a worship service which meets in the Student Ministry Center North (separate buildings at the north end of campus).

Wednesday nights start at 6:30pm. The cafe is open with a special dinner menu each Wednesday night.

At Christ’s Church we believe it is vital to connect to others in healthy and growing relationships. Jesus never intended us to go through the joys and trials of life alone. A Life Group is a place for each of us to be real with each other so that we can help each other along toward maturity in Jesus.

Life Groups meet throughout the week. Most groups meet on weeknights, but some meet during the day, morning, or on weekends. Life Groups meet in each other’s homes all over the greater Joplin area.

Life Groups gather together to go through a lesson that is based on the sermon from the previous week. The lesson includes a time of Bible study, application, and prayer. This allows for a natural growth as groups experience true community and become a picture of the Church.

Staff Team

Our staff team is here to lead the ministries of Christ’s Church by serving faithfully the opportunities God puts in front of us. In serving we fulfill our desires to steward our opportunities well, to engage and develop others, to restore hope through truth, to value unity in the church family and to embody the Kingdom here and now. We’d love to meet with you and tell you about how to discover completeness in Jesus!

What We Believe

God

He is the one true God. Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1 and 26-27 3:22, Psalm 90:2, Matthew 28:19, John 14:26, I Peter 1:2, II Corinthians 13:14)

Jesus Christ

That He is truly God and truly man, existing for all eternity and having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a life without sin, was crucified on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven where He now reigns as our High Priest and Mediator. (Matthew 1:22-23, Isaiah 9:6, John 1:1-5, 8:58, 10:30-38, 12:45, 14:10-30, 17:5,24, Hebrews 1:3, 4:14-15, 7:3, I Corinthians 15:3-4, Romans 1:3-4)

the Holy Spirit

That His ministry is to glorify Jesus Christ and during this age, to convict men of sin, indwell, guide, instruct, comfort and empower the believer for godly living and service. We further believe that all Christians have been promised the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Although we cannot dictate the Holy Spirit as to when and where He acts, the promise of His presence may be claimed at the point of conversion (Acts 2:38). The Holy Spirit then gives gifts of ministry to each one for the good of the body (I Corinthians 12:4-7). We do not believe that sign gifts exist to prove someone is saved nor should they be practiced to draw attention to the individual.

The Scriptures

Both Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. (II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:20-21, II Timothy 1:13, Psalm 12:6, 119:105 and 160, Proverbs 30:5.)

We Were Created To Be In Fellowship With God Forever

Man fell into sin willfully and is therefore alienated from God and without hope apart from the blood of Jesus Christ. (Genesis 1:27, Psalm 8:3-6, Isaiah 53:6, Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:1-2.)

We Are Saved By Grace Through Faith In Jesus

Salvation is through the grace of Jesus only and paid for by His blood. (Ephesians 1:7) No amount of work on man’s part can earn it. (Ephesians 2:8,9) People are called to believe and accept Jesus as the only Savior for sin. (Acts 15:7) People are expected to confess belief in Christ. (Matthew 10:32) People confirm that decision in water baptism. (immersion) (Acts 8:35-38) Jesus then instructed to go and make disciples. (Matthew 28:19-20) Baptism was practiced in the Church from its beginning. (Acts 2:38-41)

Satan Is Real

He desires to “kill, steal, and destroy” the Church and that he is ruler over the present world system. (Job 1:6ff, Matthew 4:1, John 10:10, II Corinthians 11:14, II Thessalonians 2:8-9, Hebrews 2:14, Ephesians 6:12, I Peter 5:8, I John 3:8)

Jesus Is The Head Of The Church

Only those who have come to faith through Jesus Christ are a part of that church both locally and universally (Colossians 1:18). We believe that since the Lord is the head of the church, that every local church has the right, under Christ, to govern its own affairs.

Jesus Will Someday Return For His Church

All the dead will be resurrected – the believer to everlasting joy with the Lord – the unbeliever to everlasting punishment. Heaven and Hell are both very real. (II Thessalonians 1:9, II Peter 2:4-9 and 3:7, Jude 13, Revelation 20:15)

God Calls Us To Be Good Caretakers

Stewardship is the giving back to God in areas of money, abilities and time. God is the giver of all good and perfect gifts and therefore the owner of all things before and after they have been given to us. He promises to reward with His blessings those who faithfully give back to Him. His blessings are given in accordance with man’s faithfulness and generosity. (James 1:17, Luke 6:38, Romans 12:8, II Corinthians 9:7, Malachi 3:8-10)

Baptism

Baptism doesn't earn God's grace or mercy, it is how we receive it. It doesn't force God's hand, it is our identification with Jesus. Interested in being baptized?
