Accountability

The unique relationship in which lives are completely open to one another so that self-disclosure, confession, and repentance can be exchanged in grace and truth.

There are activities in our life that God loves to meet with us in, and confession and repentance are primary. In fact, the calling God places on every person in his world is that they would turn from the things that brought sin and death, and turn to the One who brings love and life (Acts 2:38).

This confession and repentance doesn’t happen in isolation but in the life of God’s community. That doesn’t mean every person should keep track of every sin they commit and share them with their local body of believers, but that the body of believers becomes the special space where unique relationships can foster those habits because that is where God is.

Relationships built with God become the safe space where our sins can be exposed and killed, instead of destructive and suffocating. James says, “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”(5:16).

This can happen in one-on-one mentorship, peer relationships, or even small groups – so where is God calling you?
