The Lord’s Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer is that prayer Jesus taught his disciples. It is one that can be memorized and articulated from beginning to end, or used as conversation starters in our dialogue with him.

The Lord’s Prayer can be used to speak verbatim, or as general themes to use in your conversation with God. This is how he taught us to speak to our Father, so below are two possible ways you can engage it. Whether you are speaking the Lord’s Prayer verbatim or simply using it as a template, speak with the Father and align your heart with his.

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
Amen.

our Father in heaven

Speak to God about all that he is to you: Father, King, Friend.

hallowed be your name

Revere God and his name so that his holiness and glory are acknowledged.

your Kingdom come

Ask God to bring his kingdom to bear on the world fully.

your will be done

Ask God for his will to be done, and that yours would be in alignment.

on Earth as it is in Heaven

Identify the places on Earth that God’s will needs to invade.

give us each day
our daily bread

Ask God for provision, but also depend on God like beggars.

and forgive us our sin,
as we also have
forgiven our debtors

Ask for forgiveness and identify who you yourself need to forgive.

and lead us not
into temptation

Ask God to help you understand what temptations you face and how to avoid them.

but deliver us from evil

Ask God for his strength to come into your life against the evil and temptations that assault you.

Pathways is meant to show you key avenues to commune with God, so that our lives are characterized by living them with him.  Through Pathways we can KNOW GOD, GROW IN GOD, and GO WITH GOD.
