God has torn down the veil that separates us from Him. It was a sacrifice beyond measure.
Luke 7: 11-16 “Now it happened, as He went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. And when He came near the gate of the city, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” So, he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother. Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us, and God has visited His people.”
There’s a paper-thin veil between this life and the next! I have come to understand this clearly on several different occasions:
May 1, 1973: A car accident that left me unconscious for three days and in the hospital for six weeks. My wife six months pregnant with our second son.
May 11, 2013: A blood clot that went to my lungs and heart, no pulse, not breathing. Nine days in the hospital after being revived by first responders.
February 19, 2017: Leaving church and experiencing a stroke, temporarily blind in both eyes, spending time in the hospital on five different occasions since that date.
Still struggling with health issues. Struggling with fear issues. I thank God every day that He has a plan. God visited His people through His Son. God has torn down the veil that separates us from Him. It was a sacrifice beyond measure. A death to restore life. His Son’s life for ours. Thank you for that “unspeakable gift”!
