Going with Jesus

At Christ’s Church of Oronogo, we often speak about the “pathway of completeness in Jesus.” It is more than a mission statement. It is an invitation. An invitation to know Jesus, to grow in Jesus, and ultimately, to go with Jesus.

That last word, go, is not just a command for missionaries or church leaders. It is the call of Jesus himself, given in what we now call the Great Commission. In Matthew 28:18–20, Jesus says, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations… and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

This commission was not just for the original disciples. It is for all of us.
Now, not everyone in our church family will move to another country. But everyone can participate in the mission. Some are goers. Some are senders. Some give. Some pray. But everyone has a role. And this spring, I want to invite you to consider going with Jesus in a very tangible way.

In March of 2026, Christ’s Church will be taking a mission team of adults and high school students to Poland to serve alongside our impact partners, Mac and Olivia Johnson. Mac and Olivia are Midwesterners just like many of us. They fell in love with Jesus, heard his call to go, and now serve as church planters with PROEM Ministries in Poland, a country marked by post-Christian culture but not without gospel hope. Through PROEM, they engage in church planting, education, youth camps, and benevolence ministries, all with the aim of helping people experience completeness in Jesus.

On this trip, you will stay at PROEM’s camp facilities, serve in public schools teaching English, and meet people whose lives are being changed by the gospel. You will rub shoulders with missionaries, local church members, and students, and you will leave a lasting impression of Jesus.

Why should you go?

Because when we go with Jesus, our own walk with him deepens. This kind of experience strengthens our faith not because it is flashy or foreign, but because it is focused. Focused on his mission. Focused on his presence. Focused on his people.

Second, you will experience community like never before. Mission trips create space for shared stories, heartfelt prayers, meaningful conversations, and lasting friendships. Some of the deepest relationships in our church family have been forged while serving together on trips like this.

Finally, going with Jesus helps us listen more closely to what he might be calling us to next. Maybe it is global ministry. Maybe it is local schools. Maybe it is your family, your workplace, or your neighborhood. But when you go, when you give God your attention and your affection by going on something like a mission trip, God will open your eyes, and he will direct your steps as you walk the pathway to completeness in Jesus.
